What is HTML ?
HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. Hyper Text Markup Language, or popularly known as HTML, is the most widely used language on Web to develop web pages.
HTML was created by Tim Berners-Lee and Dan Connoll in 1991. The draft expired after six months. Then Dave Raggett's published HTML+ version in 1993. After the HTML and HTML+ drafts expired in early 1994, the IETF created an HTML Working Group and they created HTML 2.0 version in 1995 which was the first standard HTML specification. In 1997 HTML 3.2 was published as a W3C Recommendation. It was the first version developed and standardized exclusively by the W3C, as the IETF had closed its HTML Working Group in September 1996. HTML 4.01 was a major version of HTML and it was published in 1999. Though HTML 4.01 version is widely used but currently we are having HTML 5 version which is an extension to HTML 4.01, and this version was published in 2012.
What you need to learn HTML ?
Before starting with this tutorial you should have a basic working knowledge with Windows or Linux operating system. You also need to be familiar with any kind of text editor like notepad, notepad++ or Sublime text editor etc, how to create folders and files on your computer, how to type content in a file and save them on a computer, how to copy text from a file and paste it into a different file.
